It was a dry and mild spring like morning when 8 teams from 4 local Primary schools lined out to play in a tag-rugby blitz at Birr Rugby Club.
Stephen Niland (Birr CCRO) organised the event which kicked off at 10am on Friday Dec. 9th 2016. Stephen had visited all the schools in the Birr area this term to introduce tag rugby to 5th and 6th class students. Four schools were able to attend on the day and each school fielded 2 teams. Each team played 3 games and there was great competition to win each game.
Birr Rugby Club has an active Mini section with over 100 children under 12 training on a Sunday morning from 10.30 -11.30. We hope that some of the students who played in this blitz may join us in the New Year.
