Primary Schools Tag Rugby Blitz
Birr RFC welcomed five local primary schools to a Tag Rugby Blitz last Thursday 13th February. St. Brendan’s Boys National School, Oxmantown National School, Scoil Naisiunta Naomh Eoin, Gaelscoil na Laochra Biorra and Scoil Naisiunta Cionn Eitigh Kinnitty where all in attendance and just over 120 kids present.
It was the first time Birr RFC held a blitz for 3rd and 4th class and to say the least it was great to see them all the kids enjoying themselves. Blessed by the weather on the day, it set a platform for all the kids to go out, play rugby and enjoy every minute of it.
The end of the Blitz saw all players head into the clubhouse where they got lunch and the opportunity to interact and socialize with fellow schools students from the area.
The blitz was well ran by Birr RFC Club Community Rugby Officer Denis Rusu and a huge thanks to all the schools who attended, all the club members who helped out on the day and also to the TY students of Banagher College and St. Brendan's Community School.
Training for our Minis boys and girls’ teams (U7s - U12s) continues every Sunday from 10.30 - 11.30 for anyone who is interested in giving it a try.
